How to specify a pocket door?

We understand that specifying the correct pocket door can be hard, as you want to make sure your door is compliant with the latest safety regulations. We often get asked, how to specify a pocket door, so we have pulled together a guide to help you understand how to specify a pocket door and what is important to remember.

Type of Pocket Door

First off, you need to decide on the pocket door kit you need for your development. This could depend on your interior or if you need your door to be fire rated to comply with the buildings safety regulations. If you are looking for a pocket door for a bathroom you may choose the Glass Leaf option as it allows you to maintain privacy while maximising space with a luxury, feel. If your home or development is technology led, the Motus Pocket Door will work, as this innovative electric sliding door system features a contactless electromagnetic propulsion mechanism, ensuring quiet operation and reducing the need for user intervention.

Determine your door leaf width and height

Most our doors, comes in a variety of sizes for the width to suit structure for example we can offer 710mm to 800mm and 1335mm to 1425mm. They type of door you choose will depend on how many door leaf width we can offer. For the height we offer two standard measurements, up to 2130mm and up to 2850mm. If you choose the Glazed Metal Leaf Kit, these will be made to your requirements. Bespoke options are available upon request.

Choose your frame/trim

At Enigma, we offer three different types of trims: concealed, shadow-gap and visible trim. The concealed frame is our most popular as it hides the architraves to enhance your contemporary interior. Shadow-gap creates clean, minimalist lines, it adds a subtle, unique feature to the room. Finally visible trim is an elegant, traditional look, it used with the architraves.

Kit Options

We offer a range of kit options to include in your system from base channel, head channel junction, strike jamb to head channel. All of these options have been tested thoroughly to ensue the kit remains highly durable and low maintenance.

Door Options

Most our door kit options come in laminated, a solid timber core with hardwood lipping on all 4 sides with a tough laminate coated for added durability. Painted, a solid timber core with hardwood lipping on all 4 sides, painted to a RAL colour of your choice. Veneered, a solid timber core with hardwood lipping on all 4 sides, veneered in your choice of timber. If you select the Glazed Metal Leaf kit, the door options are slightly different as the options will depend how much glass you want and the look of the door. We offer a framed glass, a ladder design and a glazing & infill. Finally, if you select the Glass Leaf the only option will be all glass for the privacy.

Ironmongery

Once all the above has been decided on, it is time to work out what ironmongery you would like to add to the door. We have a range to choose from to best suit your door and interior. We have a range to suit every interior.
