The top five coolest buildings to look out for in 2025

Each year around the world there are some must-see buildings that stand out for their designs. We have rounded up a list up that top 5 buildings that are due to complete in 2025.
King Abdullah Financial District Metro Station, Saudi Arabia:
This project is due to be known as the transportation icon! King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) Metro Station, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in Riyadh, serves as a key interchange within the Riyadh Metro network, which is due to open the start of the year. The station integrates six rail platforms across four levels, connecting the KAFD terminus, King Khalid International Airport, and the KAFD monorail sky bridge. Acting as a multi-modal hub, it links with bus and park-and-ride services while providing new public plazas.
Zayed National Museum, United Arab Emirates:
Nearly 15 years after Foster + Partners revealed its design, Zayed National Museum will open in Abu Dhabi in 2025, a museum dedicated to the history and culture of the country. The project forms part of Saadiyat Island – a cultural district under development off the coast of the UAE capital with a cluster of landmark buildings by an illustrious roster of architects.
The Zayed National Mueum will feature five lightweight steel towers resembling birds’ wings, set within a landscaped mound with gallery spaces located at ground level.
Quzhou Sports Campus, China, by MAD:
This one is for sport and MAD fans, as the studio has several project opening in 2025, but this one is the most unusual. It comprises a group of sports facilities with green roofs, which appear to emerge from the ground like volcanoes. According to the studio, it is “the largest earth-sheltered complex in the world”.
The 700,000-square-metre sports park in Quzhou City, Zhejiang Province, will include a 30,000 seat stadium and a gymnasium with capacity of 10,000, along with a swimming pool, sports hall, and outdoor sports venues.
Google King’s Cross, UK:
In London, the studios of architect Bjarke Ingels and designer Thomas Heatherwick will wrap up work on the new Google campus this year.
Widely known as London’s landscraper, the building will stretch 330 metres in length, making it longer than the Shard – the UK’s tallest building – is tall.
Its key feature will be its expansive roof garden, which will span the length of the building. As well as landscaped terraces, it will feature a “trim track” where staff can keep in shape.
Queensland Performing Arts Centre NPAV, Australia:
Buildings due to open in Australia this year include this performing arts centre in Brisbane by Blight Rayner and Snøhetta, which will be used for ballet, opera, theatre and musicals.
This centre will be distinguished by its undulating glass shell, which pays homage to the Brisbane River and celebrates its place in the indigenous land known as Meanjin.
